Lentils Organic from Umbria
On the scenographic area of the wildlife reserve of Fiume Nera, in a setting of mountains and ancient woods, is placed Bartolini’s farm.
Here we cultivate the olives, the legumes, the cereals, and on the higher parts near the woods, we breed cattle in the wild and dig seasonal truffles. Respectful of the environment, we are at the forefront of the cultivation of biological products and we work so that the agricultural productions are immune from chemical treatments. Our cattle helps us to do this by providing us with a natural fertilizer that is useful for cultivation, allowing us to close the cycle of biological cultivation.
The selection of cereals and pulses derives from an ancient agricultural tradition within the Bartolini family. These natural and genuine products complete the main oil production of the company. First of all, the characteristic lentils, small in size and with different colour taints, are soft in taste and immeditaely ready for cooking even without having to dip them in water beforehand.
LENTILS AND POTATOES SOUP
300g lentils, 5 potatoes, 5 peeled tomatoes, 1 onion, 1 carrot, broth, salt and extra virgin olive oil.
Wash the lentils under fresh water to remove the starch. Chop the onion and carrot and saute' in a large pan with a little extra virgin olive oil. Add the potatoes, previously cut into cubes, and cook them for a few minutes. Then join the lentils and peeled tomatoes. Add the broth, salt and cook for about 40 minutes.
