Guyot Pear
Dr Jules Guyot is an early cropping variety that produces pale green fruits turning to pale yellow with a slight flush. Creamy white, sweet juice and melting flesh with an excellent pear flavour. The tree itself is compact and upright in habit, very easy to grow and has beautiful clusters of white blossom in the spring.
Guyot is best eaten when soft. As an early variety, the fruit ripens quickly.
Although named after Docteur Jules Guyot, an expert in the cultivation of grapevines, the variety was developed by nurseryman, M. Ernest Baltet and his brother in Troyes, France and released in 1875. In 1885, the variety was introduced into the USA.
